World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will increase an additional 3% of the previous damage each time it is upgraded.
Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item upgrader kit, which lets players create stronger versions with fewer Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level using standard methods.
A boost upgrade is a way to alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals per.
The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade item their gear, even when they're not sure how much it will be improved after the reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive, and it is possible that the item will be obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate possibility of failure, and a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within a radius around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes much faster.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced again are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can decide to replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
The use of the Glyph can boost all nodes that are linked to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The item upgrading system allows players to increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable Best item upgrade comes with an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires a different number of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is leveled up.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When a player upgrade an item it will be replaced with a new item. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a disadvantage, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't require it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens in order to do so. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, with an initial level and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This can be beneficial, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the max roll by 10 points. This item can be extremely useful in PvP battles, since a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to boost the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear which can be upgraded up to eight times. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to return to its initial state and the player having to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned, such as crit chance damage to attack, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or reloading speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase it will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the cost that are listed above.
