Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes that boost its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Items that have weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or gotten from missions and chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade an item of armor, the user must select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix at the end of the names of items. For instance the addition of a Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools when a player swaps one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, except for inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from previous versions in some key ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded a certain number of times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials needed do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to gain affixes which will increase its features. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will have no more than two affixes available for it, while legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower rate of success.
Engineers utilize a level to measure the height of the building with a known location, such as a benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to a high level of accuracy and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can dramatically improve an item's strength, damage, or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in very rare instances.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original Best item upgrader, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This can be a great or a bad thing, depending on your needs and requirements from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that boosts the power of the item upgrader mod by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are offered over the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher chances of obtaining a unique bonus.
The game also comes with number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an item. This is a great way to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. This is because rerolling can provide a much faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in various ways. They can be of different dimensions, have no elements, or only contain one element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They are also useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an extensive selection of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading, while some are not. Armor sets with high defense values or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique tools that are suitable for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to the level of the tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the item's attributes and the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and armor have a higher trade value when they are updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense of armor with a newer appearance.
