The 10 Scariest Things About Item Upgrading
From Shiapedia
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus or additional effect, when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the necessary component or material needed to make that happen.
There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions are gems that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the Best item upgrade they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from the previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the impact of these items, rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes available for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests, depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item is not able to get to its maximum level The NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials but will result in a lower chance of success.
To measure the height of a building, engineers will employ an instrument to compare the measurement with a known reference point such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod, then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high standard of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can drastically increase the strength of an item, damage, or other attributes. This can be accomplished through the menu for items or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in rare cases.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This can be a great or a bad thing, depending on your requirements and expectations from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that boosts the item's power by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are offered in addition to the standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the better the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.
The game also comes with a number of sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on the same unit. This is a good method of giving the character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling can help you create a more powerful character faster, which allows you to progress in the game and attain higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They can be of different sizes, have none of the elements, or contain one element. They can be used to organize data or organize information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways, including size and shape.
There are many set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others are not. Sets of armor that offer high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have lots of armor or weapons already.
Some set items are upgraded for their unique procs which can be useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their counterparts in their tiers. For example, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this because its defense will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
