Buying a Convertible Single to Double Stroller

There are few things more exciting than hearing that you're expecting your second child. Preparing your family for the new baby can be a challenge.

One of them is choosing the best double pram for your needs. This article will cover the different options available and also provide tips to help you choose the right pram for your growing family.

Convertible double prams

If you're looking to purchase a stroller that will grow with your family, a convertible single double pram is a great option. These clever frames, such as the Cybex Aton 4 Twin, can be expanded in width to accommodate a second seat and typically come with the option of adding an additional shopping basket, or two carrycots/car seats (with upper adapters and lower adapters readily available) so that you can begin your family with just one buggy and then upgrade to twins without having to buy a new one once more. They typically offer more configuration and seating options for both children than other types of double prams too and will have better weight distribution so they're generally easier to maneuver. They are compact, easy to use and versatile. Cons: Less storage space and less space for both children compared to some other designs.

Tandem (in-line) double prams

Like the name suggests tandem prams have two bassinets or seats that face each other. Tandem prams are typically smaller than side by side double prams, and are easier to manoeuvre through doors and on public transport. They don't have as much storage and can be difficult to access when both seats are used, especially if your child is in the front seat.

Some first-time parents choose a tandem stroller to ensure the future of their investment, particularly in the case of children close in age. One of the most popular examples is our DUO2 pram, which is designed as a single buggy and can be upgraded to a twin stroller with the addition of a second seat. It is also possible to convert it to a single stroller once your child is older and outgrows the buggy.

Tandem prams come in a variety of configurations. For example the infant can be put in a bassinet at the top of the pram, while an older child sits on the seat below. Most can also be transformed into a travel unit with the addition of the car capsule, which is positioned in the top seat.

A side-by-side double stroller lets both children to share a ride and talk as they go. This will stop them from getting up.

A side-byside is the ideal choice for grandparents who want to be part of the enjoyable. They can carry both children around and assist with shopping, Travel strollers running errands, or even attending events. They're usually cheaper than a tandem pram, which makes them an excellent way to introduce grandparents to babysitting duties.

Single prams pushchairs prams

A single pram can only allow for 1 seat or bassinet/carry cot. It is usually suitable from birth through to approx. 4 years of age. Many single prams allow toddler boards (depending on which type of toddler board you select) to be tacked to the back, so that a child can stand or sit, while you push chairs and prams the stroller.

Some first-time parents choose to future-proof their pram by purchasing a double pram option, such as our DUO2. This means that you will use the pram in a single mode when you have just one child, and then switch it into a tandem in-line double pram when baby number two is born. This will save you the cost and burden of having to purchase a separate double pram.

Tandem or in-line double prams are larger than side by side double prams, yet they are easier to maneuver on crowded sidewalks and in stores. However, they are more difficult to use during jogging and will require greater effort to push when you're going up or pram and travel system, university-mall.com, down hills.

Side by side prams are much wider than in-line or tandem double prams, but they are a great option if you plan to have two children of similar age. They can see and interact with each other from their seats. They are more difficult to maneuver than tandem strollers, and may not fit through standard doors as easily.

Non-convertible side-byside prams can only be used 3 in one pushchair single mode. You will need to purchase a new pram or stroller for your children's younger ones. They offer the benefit of being less expensive and last longer than convertible double prams, as they are not built to be used in both single and double modes. The main downside is that your older child will eventually outgrow the side-by-side seat and will require to be moved to a toddler seat, which can be costly.
