Saturday night was electric, but especially Crawford, a champion for years and years who never received the full due he long ago earned. He’s charming and dynamic once you know him, but not exactly media friendly, which didn’t help but won’t matter even a little now.

Round 5: They clinch up and Miller slams a few short hooks into Ruiz. Miller trying to work as much as possible from inside this phone booth. Miller unloads with a series of body shots and that seems to have hurt Ruiz. Ruiz playing defense now. Miller pushes him away and shakes his head. Another body shot from Miller. More dirty boxing from Miller. Miller sits down on his shots and unloads a massive flurry. There’s the bell. Oh man, Ruiz may have been hurt from that. Big momentum swing here. For Bud, this is just another example of his pound-for-pound greatness. The Spence win adds an emphatic bullet point to a resume that already includes wins over Yuirorkis Gamboa, Jeff Horn, Kell Brook, Amir Khan and Shawn Porter.
Cris Cyborg (1-0) made her pro debut against Gabby Holloway (0-3), and the 37-year-old MMA legend got by the winless southpaw with a unanimous decision. The contest provided little in action until the third round when Cyborg could land a few shots charging into Holloway, who wasn't engaging. Holloway was knocked down in the third round by a combination closed by a left to the body. Cyborg could not close out the fight in the third, as Holloway could make it to the bell. Holloway looked to be in survival mode in the fourth, which made this bout go to the academic scorecards after four rounds. Those cards were 40-35, 39-36, and 40-34.
In the fourth round, it became abundantly clear this would be a masterclass performance for the young challenger. No Love became even more difficult for Cruz to find, and Garbrandt began knocking down the champion on a more regular basis.
"I only dreamed of being a world champion," Crawford said. "I’m an over-achiever. Nobody believed in me when I was coming up, but I made everybody a believer. I want to thank Spence and his team because without him none of this would have been possible."

Israil Madrimov might not be a household name in boxing yet but after a decorated amateur career and a 10-0-1 start as a professional, he'll take on one of the sport's biggest names on Saturday with a chance to become a superstar. Terence "Bud" Crawford is currently the BWAA's top pound-for-pound boxer and the three-division world champion will challenge for Madrimov's WBA super-welterweight title on Saturday at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. A victory would make him just the 24th four-division champion in the history of men's boxing and further cement his legacy as one of the best fighters of his generation.
"He was the better man," said Spence. "He was using his jab, and my timing was a little bit off. He was catching me in between shots. I make no excuses. He was on a hotter jab, he was timing his jab and he had his timing down on point."
Crawford conquered the welterweight and light welterweight divisions as undisputed world champion, and also previously held the WBO lightweight title. Now he moves up to 154lbs with the goal of adding a pair of belts from that weight class to his incredible trophy case.
Terence Crawford turned the most significant boxing match of the year into a bruising lesson in the sweet science, dropping Errol Spence Jr. three times en route to a ninth-round knockout on Saturday night to become the undisputed champion at 147 pounds.
