This decreases the tensile strength but increases the modulus of elasticity.

Carbon fiber is naturally resistant to oxidation, which protects it from the ravages caused by corrosion. It has a lower coefficient than steel and therefore is less likely to change its shape when exposed to heat. Carbon fiber has better fatigue properties than metal, which means it will last longer.

Carbon fiber is utilized in the tailplanes and fuselage of aircraft. The strength and light weight of carbon fiber have allowed designers to make aircrafts that are more efficient and safer than ever before.
