Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet messes in one time and without the need to switch devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a variety of attachments and brushes, and an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For example, you can opt for the robot to take care of a thorough clean-up in the kitchen and living rooms but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation tech are excellent too, with the robot being able to detect tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only drawback is that the robot is known to smash into objects and walls at full speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning on the app will tell you exactly what the robot done, where it is going, and which obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance tasks are required like emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank automatically by using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time, with the mop capable of operating for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, while the automatic vacuum and mop robot is capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is intuitively laid out and is easy to comprehend although we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a mop only vacuum and mop clean, when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's flagship robot vacuums with mop vacuum and mop is the most up-to-date version. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that enables it to pull up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners could miss.
Like the other two Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes two cameras that can recognize objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It can then automatically change its direction and clean them without missing a beat.
It's the most expensive model I've tried however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it has only three physical buttons which include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin is auto-refilling.
The only drawback I could find in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if necessary) however, it's a hassle to take off the mount itself for manual washing. I've observed that any carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of clever features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and configure these smart features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, track the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You'll need to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how efficient it is otherwise.
