robots that vacuum and mop (mouse click the next page)

Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet messes (spills and stains) in one session without having to swap out devices. They also can save space in comparison to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot should be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models with docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual can get you running in no time with an entire dust bag, water tank and hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you select the exact kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are excellent too and the robot mop is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it can smash into walls and other objects at full speed - but a quick glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading, and which obstacles it's run into or avoided.

The docking station comes with a handy LCD screen that shows when maintenance is needed for cleaning up debris and washing the water tank that is dirty. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is well laid out and easy to understand however we would have liked to be able distinguish between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's flagship robot mop and vacuum. Unlike last year's model, this one features an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to pull up finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.

As with the other two Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which help it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating dual cameras that can detect objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its direction and clean them without missing a beat.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've examined, but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it only has three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button to bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank self-empties, and the bin is auto-refilling.

The only negative I discovered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to take off the mount itself to wash manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of intelligent features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to enable voice control with this model, which is a shame considering the quality of its performance.

It also lets the robot to access furniture that is low-profile which makes it a great option for smaller apartments and condos with limited space. The side brush automatically tilts down when it spots wet spots. This is a wonderful feature that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through excessive back-and forth movements.

Unlike other robots, which are restricted to a single task, the X40 can mop and vacuum at the same time. It can also be programmed to skip areas with carpet and mop only hard floors, or vice versa. The X40 is easy to maintain and has many convenient features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. It can also tell when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you before it overflows, thus reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

Smart DuoScrub, a new feature of its mop, utilizes two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop mops are cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is a fantastic feature since it prevents the build-up of odours and mould in the storage area, and it also makes mop systems more efficient. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum and mop models. It could be a great method to keep your home cleaner longer.

There are plenty of choices, including the possibility to schedule cleanings and adjust preferences. The app allows you to set these preferences or you can make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and provides a number of options to customize your cleaning routine. It also offers several functions that are not available on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen on market, with metallic and white colors that looks elegant and classy. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots in this list, at 4kg however it's not overly heavy, and feels robust and well built. The mopping design is also excellent, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
