Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it only has three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button to bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank self-empties, and the bin is auto-refilling.
The only negative I discovered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to take off the mount itself to wash manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of intelligent features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to enable voice control with this model, which is a shame considering the quality of its performance.
