The Roomba j7+, iRobot’s smartest robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its biggest breakthrough is its camera-based obstacle detection system that uses built-in AI to detect objects such as charging cords, shoes, and the pet waste that many other robots are unable to avoid (and often go through). It's the first robot to provide you with images of objects that it encounters, meaning you can tell the robot to avoid it.
The Combo J7+ is the most effective mop-bot cleaner we've ever tested, removing spills and dirt effortlessly and leaving no trace that it was there. It's simple to control via the iRobot Home app which lets you schedule cleaning and create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't clean areas you do not want it to. And it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can start and stop it with your voice.
Its design is also a step above the competition with a sleek top piece that looks more like a toy robot rather than a loud, loud one. And the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal System is self-emptying and is ideal to speed up cleaning.
In our tests the j7+ performed quick to clean up dust, dirt and pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in one location instead of scattering it across the floor. It even managed to take small gravel and sand which other robots can't. It did all this without getting caught in our pet's hair shed.
The j7+, though not as smart as the Roomba S9 for $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot and isn't able to clean the stairs, it's a good option for those who want both mopping and vacuum. It's not expensive, and the iRobot app makes it very user-friendly to use.
The iRobot Home App is easy to use but we found it less reliable as other robotic vacuum cleaner on sale cleaner apps. It can take some time to download updates, and it is sometimes difficult to tell if they are working until you actually see them in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you're looking to purchase an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean floors, the best self cleaning Vacuum choice is probably a hybrid. This kind of robot usually comes with a built-in tank for water, meaning they can both mop and vacuum your home simultaneously. They also come with many additional features, including smart mapping, small object avoidance, and the capability to wash and dry mopping pads. The downside is that they can be expensive at retail, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they often drop in price.
Roborock is one of our favorite robot vacuums, and the Q5+ is no exception. This is their least expensive auto-empty model. While it's not equipped with some of the premium features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's a great choice if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save hundreds of dollars.
The Q5+ is notably soft around obstacles like tables and walls and walls, which makes it a good choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies, which is a place which many robot vacuums can really fall short. The technology for navigation in the Q5+ is excellent too, with very little missed corners and on walls.
The Q5+, as with other Roborock products, can be controlled by just a few buttons on the device or via the Roborock App. With the app you can start and stop cleanings or schedules, establish virtual barriers and no-go zones and alter your home map or re-label rooms.
If you choose the Q5+ model, it comes with a brand new auto-emptying dock, designed to make this robot easier to maintain. It requires a screwdriver to install, but once installed, the process of emptying the bin is relatively easy. It has a large LCD screen, which is useful when setting up schedules and altering settings. This isn't a necessary feature for the majority of people but it will help you keep the track of the maintenance intervals for your robot effortlessly.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a smart, well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of both mopping and vacuuming. Its design and function are some of the most advanced available however, it's also expensive.
The base station is attractive and is easily hidden when not in use, and the size is relatively compact. The station's most appealing factor is its ability to automate numerous tasks and functions that most other robots leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water, it electrolyzes and heats the water (which many other robots require you to do) also emptying the dustbin after vacuuming, and helps keep your robot charged and clean.
And its vacuuming is impressive, too. It's the only robovacs that I've tested that do an excellent job of cleaning up debris from bare floors, and it's not nearly as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.
The Freo X Ultra is not free of faults, especially when it comes to navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren’t as reliable as other robovacs. This means it could get stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms in the home. It's not able climb stairs as well as competitors, for instance, and it doesn't have a dock that lets you to set up a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.
While it doesn't offer as many in terms of cleaning-related options in its app, or as many in-app shortcuts like other robovacs the Freo X Ultra is still a top choice for those looking for an all-around great mop and vacuum cleaner that's worth the price price.
But if you want to save some cash or don't want to think about the limitations of this robotic, there are plenty of other great choices available, including a lot of eufy models for significantly less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance is less expensive and provides a similar in-app experience with more features like the ability to climb stairs, a full-function dock, and superior overall performance when vacuuming floors as well as high and low-pile carpets.

Eufy is an Anker company with a long history of creating robot vacuums that offer the perfect balance of features, performance, and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different it offers a high-quality cleaning of hard floors as well as mopping, carpets and other surfaces at an affordable price point. It's easy to set up, simply snap on one of the side brush and then turn it on. Then connect your charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps needed to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. You'll need to leave the dock close to an electrical outlet and plenty of room for it to move around, however.
The G30 is small, 2.85 inches tall to be precise and will fit under many couches and other low-clearance furniture. Its design isn't as ostentatious compared to some rival models. It features a sleek black finish with three buttons that are physical for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs the area in a spiral pattern over two minutes) Recharge, and Spot Cleaner. You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice commands to perform unscheduled cleaning.
The way that the G30 cleans is what separates it from its rivals. It uses a built-in mapping to create an image of non-movable objects that are in its path while retaining what it's cleaned and what it isn't able to access. When it needs to recharge, it automatically returns to its starting point and begins cleaning where it left off.
The eufy G30 has its flaws, though. The iRobot Roomba 675 is much better constructed, has lower recurring costs, is charged faster and offers similar battery life. It also offers better performance on bare floors and carpets with a low pile. It also has a bigger dust bin that doesn't need to be emptied as frequently and comes with the boundary strips to restrict it from certain areas. The G30 is more affordable and simpler to maintain. Its smaller size means that it doesn't need to be emptied as often and it's less trouble with bulky materials such as cereal.
