The Often Unknown Benefits Of Item Upgrade
From Shiapedia
Throne and Liberty Gear Upgrades
Upgrading gear increases its stats base and often enhances its extras. The value of these upgrade is determined by the gear's tiers, their requirements, and the number of random augmentations are made available.
The elite racial Shield Razortail for instance, is often upgraded to increase its lightning absorption capability in PvP and/or add additional defenses to missile-based builds in the PvM. This makes it more marketable than the non-upgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens are a way to reroll a purchased item like an armor, weapon or ring. The item is replaced by another of the same kind, but with different benefits. Reroll tokens are an affordable way to upgrade gear. However, they do not retain the same level as the original item, and any wasted resources aren't refunded.
Survivors may acquire reroll tokens through several means like the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures. They can be found in crates and chests or bought from the market for 150k each. Reroll tokens can be used to change the attributes of a piece of equipment that could include increasing its damage or granting it a new stat.
Players can roll their equipment into three aspects that include physical power, magical power and health. Upgrades to physical power increase damage from weapons and melee attack and spell power upgrade mage attacks and ring. Health upgrades provide the player with an extra health.
Three types of rerolls tokens are available: upgrade rare and legendary. Each upgrade takes an item to a higher-quality, with the requirement of a higher-level reroll token in order to make it. Upgrades require a standard item. Rare upgrades require items that are either exclusive or legendary. Legendary upgrades require three legendary pieces.
The reroll marker, unlike other markers or tokens placed on action areas, remains on the space until the next success is rerolled. This helps you save upgrades.
Blueprints appear as envelopes at the beginning of each Preparation Phase, and can be opened by grabbing them with Interact. Once they are open they will display a complete description and an icon for the relevant appliance or ingredient. The restaurant's store will swap blueprints for a new appliance or ingredient for an amount of money.
This means that blueprints can be moved between the Staple Pool (which is the default pool) and the Non-staple Pool during a run. This alters the kind of blueprints that a restaurant's shop has available for rerolls and which are available in the Non-droppable Pool.
Growthstones
Weapons and armor, as well as accessories can be upgraded in Throne and Liberty using Growth Stones. These are special stones that boost the level of an item by increasing its stats and attributes. Players can find these items by visiting Equipment Enchanting NPCs located in the main towns. They can purchase them from Contract Coin Merchants for a price. These stones can also be obtained by players who sign daily contracts.
To upgrade gear to upgrade gear, players must first locate the item then click the "level up button". The menu will appear that shows the item's current status and what it will be when being leveled up as well as the necessary amount of Growth Stones to do so. The number of Growth Stones required to upgrade an item will depend on its rarity. Typically, rare (blue) weapons require more than one green Growth Stone to reach their next level, whereas rare armor requires just one green or blue Growth Stone.
Once they have decided on the upgrade, players must select the number of green Growth Stones they wish to use and pay the corresponding cost. When the requirements have been satisfied, the user can select the upgrade button to apply the Growth Stones to the item. This will increase the item upgrader kit's level a certain percentage. Depending on the rarity of the item and rarity, the upgrade process could be as quick as a few seconds to minutes.
The upgrade process is also risk-free and doesn't affect the longevity of the item. This makes the system an excellent way for players to gain an advantage in battle without putting stress on their accounts. Clicking on the "transfer tab" players can transfer the experience and progress of an upgraded piece of gear onto the new gear.
For new players, it can be difficult to obtain Growth Stones. There are a variety of ways to obtain them, including completing contracts and purchasing them from the Contract Coin Merchant, defeating Abyssal Contract enemies, obtaining them from the Equipment Stone Seal Book, or obtaining them from reward chests during the Ancient Arena season. Additionally players can cut down higher-level Growth Stones to create multiple lower-level ones.
Leveling
Leveling is a feature that allows you to boost the power of weapons and armor. You can also upgrade trinkets as well as helms. It is achieved by the combination of an item with upgrade components at the Upgrade Station, paying a cost of Happy Stars or Happy Tickets. The upgrade materials will be used up and the item will receive a higher level. This process can be repeated until the maximum level of an item is reached.
Items that have upgraded stats will display a blue icon beside their slot. Upgrade components, unlike enchantments, cannot be added to more than one item at the same time. Furthermore, each upgrade items component will require a specific number of items to be applied and an appropriate amount for the equipment.
The Upgrade Station features two slots: the left is where players can add an item upgrader that they wish to upgrade, and the right side shows a glimpse of what the equipment will look like once it is at its next level. Pressing the yellow arrow when a player has sufficient materials will begin the upgrade process.
A piece of gear can be upgraded a maximum of five times. Every time the item is upgraded, its base stats will increase by a small percentage. The maximum level for an item is 19.
When an item reaches its highest level, upgrades will not be available to it. Likewise, once an item is on an upgrade track (e.g. Upgrades for the Veteran or Explorer track will be discounted.
Upgrade components are a kind of equipment that can be inserted into armors, weapons trinkets, tools for gathering and weapons to provide an extra effect or attribute benefit while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, looted or obtained through quests, or traded between players. Upgrade components can be changed with new ones. However, this can destroy the old upgrade.
Requirements
Items upgrades enable players to increase certain attributes of armor and weapons they already have. The requirements for upgrading an item will differ based on the type of item, but you'll typically need Dilithium and an amount of Upgrade tokens.
The upgrade items can be slotted into equipment sets and weapons for additional effects or to increase the level of the item. These upgrades can be gotten from various sources in the game, such as crafting, purchased from the Trading Post or karma vendors or looted from bosses and raids, or dropped from dungeons. Once an upgrade component has been added to an object it is not able to be removed or replaced. However it is possible to swap glyphs freely.
Upgrades can boost the Mark Level of an item or Rarity. Some upgrade components also have additional modifiers that can increase the item's stats.
For instance, the helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun" boosts the base defense, and also adds an extra 20% chance to block. The DPS "Wildfire", on the other hand increases damage to weapons.
Upgrades can be beneficial for some items, but not because they boost stats. They are more valuable to players when they achieve the perfect roll. For example, a perfect-rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly valued in the melee PvP community and could be worth 20-50x the non-upp'd version.
The game will display the requirements once you choose the upgrade component that goes into the item. The game will show the required requirements when you select an upgrade component to slot into an item.
Once you've satisfied the requirements for an upgrade the game will put the item in your inventory, and the progress bar will update to indicate how close to completing the upgrade. You can also track the status of an item upgrade by visiting any NPC who upgrades items.
